Hi everyone. Today was visitor's day at room 4830 in the ICU of Loyola Hospital. The first big event of the day was when one of the Doctor's assistants came to take Glady's bandage from her breast. For me it was the first time to see a transplant. I thought it was wonderful. There were scars, but it really looked like nothing was taken out. I was just glad Glady's healing process was going really well. Our very first visitor was Glady's friend Ann. I'm so sorry Ann, I forgot the camera and didn't have it when you came. For those of you who really want to know who she is, go to one of the very first blogs and see her there when she visited Glady at home. Thank you very much for your thoughtfulness, the flowers, and your gift. I hope you know how much you brightened our day. Our next visitor was our friend Karen, who was kind enough to bring some Thai food. As usual, your energy, smile, and friendship was one of the highlights of the day. Thank you for your expertise with the Mac, and the hope you gave us that Glady's computer might be 100% soon. Her oncologist, Dr. Sarkar also stopped by just to say hi. We've always been impressed by her care and it was really nice to see her. Karen was also impressed. Our last visitors who barely made it before visiting hours were over was our friends the Baluyots. Thank you so much for your company, for making us laugh, your gift, and sharing your experiences with us. As usual, Glady was falling in and out of sleep even with visitors. She slept really well the night before though, which was good, inspite of all the pain she was in. She sat up for most of the day and even wanted to walk a little bit, but she was still connected to a lot of things which stopped that idea. She should have been out of ICU today, but they couldn't find a room for her to go to. For me, I really don't mind her staying in ICU. She has very nice people taking care of her there and she is the only one in the room. That might change when she moves. Anyway, her doctors think she will go home on Sunday, Monday at the latest. She is really doing well, and today her appetite picked up. Someone from the kitchen came up and talked to her about what she likes to eat and even though they didn't have any vegetarian menus (vegemeat or glutten stuff), they gave her a lot of vegetables and fruits which was what she wanted anyway and so her appetite is getting better. God is so good. Today, Glady's sister Grace, who we all call ATS, has come and we're all very excited to have her here. Goodnight everyone.
You're fabulous, Frendell. Your blog is the first thing I check every time I turn on my computer. I know now that there will probably be something new each morning, but I check in between, just in case. (I don't expect more, but because it makes me feel closer and more connected, I keep checking!) You're a great writer! Good descriptions. Even humor. I know you must be absolutely exhausted, but those of us far, far away, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for taking the time to keep us informed. And I'm glad Glady lets you take a few pictures. Praise the Lord she's doing so well. Glad that ATS is there to help and support. You are all in my prayers many, many times a day! Love you all! Pat
ReplyDeleteYay! More great news on a positive progress!! How exciting! Oh I wish I could come out! Maybe next weekend if you're both feeling up to it? Please let us know, because we'd love to bring some AE! If we are all feeling healthy (no colds, no viruses), can we make it a date on 2/7/09? Only if you guys are up to it, ok? We can always reschedule! Keep up the good work Glady and Frendell! :) Miss you both!
ReplyDeletePS: I can make a binder too for all Glady's medical records if you want! :) Remember all those hospital tabs I've been bringing to the church from work? Tell me what you want me to do and I will do it!
PSS: What's with the "still-great" hair on post-op day 3? How do you do it girl? ;)
ReplyDeleteSo good to see you doing better and better everyday, Glady! Frendell, thanks for keeping us posted with Glady's progress. We give thanks to God today for prayers answered and continue to pray for both of you!

at church, everyone seemed to get a kick out of frendell's text saying, "only 3-4 visitors at a time please". looks like uncle boy & auntie miriam were the only ones who made it? praising god for today's blog entry!
ReplyDeleteGrateful to God to read about your progress everytime I check your blog. I can't thank God enough for His blessings! You're looking very well. At church, I gave them an update about your condition and I heard some people say,"praise God". Eman Asercion led in the prayer. Your fans from life skills said,"hi and get well soon. We are praying for you". Thank God for prayers and we will continue to do so. Love you very much and have a peaceful nite. Grace, thanks for being there for your sister.I thank God for you. Till next blog!

ReplyDeleteWe understand the concerns and anxiety you are
ReplyDeletegoing through. But prayers can work miracles
which not even the best surgeon can realize. We
therefore pray for you always coupled with a faith that God can heal you even in the absence
of medical intervention.
We love you, Auntie Mellie
