Uncle Harvey

Last Saturday, I asked Uncle Harvey if he would give me his permission to share his story here on my blogspot. I'm not sure he knew what he agreed to, but he said that he'd be happy to share his story, if it will serve to inspire others. We, at Chicago Fil-am church, wanted to let Uncle Harvey know how much he means to us and what kind of influence he has been to us. In this picture, he sang with the Ladies Chorus.. he's always willing to sing and share his talents with others.

Sheila, Auntie Lita, Theresa and Beverly...

I wanted to tell Uncle Harvey that his courage inspires me everyday. I pray for him everyday and at the times when I'd rather just stay in bed when I don't feel well, I remember than he goes to church every Sabbath, even though he's in pain. He told me a couple of weeks ago that 'he didn't want cancer to define him and how he lived his life. He wanted to be an inspiration to others, every day and in whatever circumstances he's in'. Well, Uncle Harvey, you are living your legacy. You inspire, you encourage, you lift up God, you give us hope and you make us want to be better...
